Back on track

One week ago: Yes, since two weeks I started web designing again! I made multiple concepts for Needlz but none of them seem to have the right potential. I don’t know why, but the content always looks off compared to the rest of the layout. So now I’m doing a sort of “research” on how to improve the content and the user-friendliness.

What I want to achieve in the new concept for Needlz: is giving the visitor the opportunity to gain the most relevant information without scrolling the page. This is because the average visitor decides his interest in a website in less then a second.

The most relevant information in my case, are the services I offer and what my website is related to. I think a catchy slogan will be nice to give an idea what the website is about. As for the services, I just list them combined with a small explanation.

After putting these aspects in the page I also want to give them a short text about Needlz and some previews to get an idea of our work.

I finally managed to make a start at a catchy layout, I imported all of the aspects as listed above. So now it comes to the small details and fine tweaking to make the website ready for coding.

I would like to hear what you guys think of the preview (colors, shapes etc.). I’m also very curious on what you guys think of the aspects I listed (what to scrap, what to add?). And if you don’t like it at all.. just say so! ;-)

Cheers,

The blog is on a low pit at the moment because of my summer holiday. I’m alot outside now chillin’ and playing soccer outside with my mates. The reason I’m at home now is because I’ve had a sunburn last tuesday and I look like a frikkin’ discoball -that’s what you get when you’re covered in aftersun haha-.

O yeah… I didn’t submit the maffia layout -see previous post- because I wasn’t satisfied with it. So I’ll probbably finish it when I’m in a boring mood.

I also worked on Needlz for a bit today. I conciderd removing the background and make the layout strechable, but when i finished this small step in Photoshop it didn’t had the flow I thought it would get. So I only made some minor adjustments and step by step I’m getting closer to the final layout of Needlz.

Have a good day all,
Cheers!

Update (5/07/2008): Today I finally made a breaktrough in the Needlz layout! After I did some major changes in the content and the header I managed to create a footer that goes along with the rest of the layout. The next step is to make the content more attractive because it’s a bit empty right now.

The last few days I’m working on a maffia layout for an open contest, based on the japanese maffia Yakuza. The contest holder didn’t gave any directions for the design or the content so I’m tasting the dark a bit. Yesterday I couldn’t get a decent style to work for this subject, but after some [...]

As I told you yesterday I was planning to continue to process of Needlz again. But first I completed the coding work for my client (live view: http://www.needlz.nl/niepoth/). After that was finished I had some spare time and began to work on, my main project, Needlz again. The banner is still a bit empty, but [...]

Hi there visitors, I’ve been very busy this week that’s why this post is a bit late. But it’s not the end of the week yet so fair is fair -muahaha-. So I will quit the chitchat and give you an update of what I’m busy with the last few days.
Currently I’m basing a layout [...]

Needlz is the main project of me and my brother Dave we mostly focus on webdesign and coding. But we never brought our website online while we made a couple of concepts for it. The main reason is that we both had rough periods at school. But now we’re done with that and I started [...]
